Assessment and Evaluation
The principles regarding the basis on which the measurement will be made and the evaluation systems used are applied according to the Sakarya University Measurement and Evaluation Directive.
- Semester/year assessment activities for a course; It consists of midterm exam, quiz, homework, oral exam, project/design, performance task (application, laboratory, workshop, seminar, field work), occupational health and safety exam (OHS) activities and at least three evaluation methods are required.
- Except for the courses evaluated as Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory at the end of the semester/year, it is mandatory to carry out at least one measurement activity for a course in the semester/year evaluation. However, depending on the nature of the courses, they can be changed by the decision of the Board of the Department and the relevant unit. The impact of each of the yearly activities on the total success rate during the year cannot be less than 10%.
- The contribution rates (weights) of semester/year and semester/end-of-year (final) measurement results to the success grade are determined by the course coordinator before the start of the academic year, and these rates are taken as basis when evaluating.
- The contribution of the exams determined in the semester/year evaluation to the success grade is at least 40%. The contribution of the semester/year final exam to the success grade is at least 40%.
- Each semester/year and semester/end-of-year assessment grades are given out of 100 points. No letter grade is given for the measurement results. Letter passing grades are given after completing all assessment activities, including the semester/year final exam.
