Dersin Amacı

The State Building in the Horn of Africa course covered Ethiopia, the Somali regions, Eritrea, Djibouti, Sudan, South Sudan, Uganda and Kenya. The geographical, historical, religions, ethnical diversities, social compositions, and political developments of each country in the Horn of Africa were examined to contextualise the continuities and transformations the state building and state formation that are taking place across the region. A variety of disciplinary perspectives and new research was brought to bear on colonial experiences, conflicts, climate and environmental change, livelihoods, hydro-politics, gender, culture, migration, political turmoil, and the challenges of foreign interventions to build a holistic understanding of contemporary developments and crises afflicting the state building of the Horn of Africa.
