| Dersin Amacı | This course equips sophomore Psychology students with foundational research literacy for the social and behavioral sciences. Emphasis is placed on understanding core research concepts and ethics, formulating coherent research questions, conducting focused literature reviews, and narrowing topics into researchable problems. The course also develops academic reading-to-write skills—quoting, paraphrasing, summarizing, organizing paragraphs/sections, and accurate APA 7 referencing—so that students can explain evidence clearly, separate facts from opinions, and present well-structured short research papers. By the end of the semester, students will be able to justify their choices with critical reasoning and communicate findings in clear, precise academic English. |
| Dersin İçeriği | This course introduces the research process, core concepts, and research ethics, with particular emphasis on ethical responsibility, academic integrity, and sustainable research practices. It then moves to problem definition, research questions and hypotheses, and topic narrowing, encouraging students to consider social relevance and potential long-term impact. Students practice literature review by separating evidence from opinion and evaluating source credibility, including the responsible use of digital and AI-assisted research tools. The course also introduces the selection of appropriate research methods (quantitative, qualitative, or mixed), along with basic sampling and measurement decisions. The second half develops academic writing skills—quoting, paraphrasing, summarizing, and APA 7 referencing—and outlines data-collection strategies and research paper organization in accordance with ethical and sustainable knowledge production principles. |
