Dersin Amacı

The aim of this course is to ensure the sustainable utilization of inorganic waste materials generated through industrial production within ceramic art and design processes. It is intended that students acquire the ability to use these wastes as alternative raw materials in ceramic bodies and glaze compositions, and to evaluate their performance by analyzing the chemical and physical properties of the materials. Furthermore, in line with the concepts of recycling and upcycling, the course aims to enable students to explore the aesthetic and structural potential of waste materials and to integrate them into creative design processes in order to produce original three-dimensional forms.

Dersin İçeriği

The Form Applications with Waste Materials course focuses on the reutilization of inorganic waste materials generated through industrial production within the context of ceramic art and design. Within the scope of the course, the potential use of identified wastes as raw materials in ceramic bodies and glaze compositions will be investigated; the developed bodies will be evaluated through chemical and physical tests to determine the performance of the material.

While analyzing the structural, surface, and visual–aesthetic contributions of waste materials, upcycling practices will be supported through the direct integration of inorganic waste fragments obtained from industry into design processes, whereas recycling practices will be encouraged through their incorporation into ceramic body compositions. In this way, the course aims to integrate waste materials into both technical and artistic production processes in line with a sustainability-oriented approach.

At the end of the course, students will design and produce a three-dimensional form using a waste-added ceramic body.
