Course Objective

To help students to gain information and ability for; Applying the methods of stylistic analysis to Islamic art of book- painting, Categorizing the examples in relation to their stylistic features, Attributing works to particular date and provenance - To introduce the students to major themes of Islamic visual culture and to the main issues of the field; to help them to analyze the major themes in a historical context.

Course Content

Stylistic characteristics of major schools of Islamic art of painting are examined in comparison with each other Themes of Islamic imagery, the contextual relationship between the images and the topic they depict.
