Course Objective

Media has taken the organization of social relations and social life under its control with its meaning production function and technological infrastructure. The media, which also serves the formation of gender perception within this life organization, also steers the identities of men and women on the axis of role-responsibility. In this context, the aim of the course is to provide students with awareness and intellectual knowledge about how the media creates, guides and suppresses the changing gender perception from culture to culture.

The meaning production of media, the relationship between media and culture, media and social differentiation, the presentation of media and reality, gender, gender discrimination, gender perception and historical origins, gender perception from tradition to modernity, comparison of east-west societies on the basis of gender, feminism, types of feminism, media products and gender perception, current TV programs and gender, gender in print media, cinema and gender
