Dersin Amacı | The students will be able to identify and discuss the role of coursebooks in ELT, state and apply approaches to materials evaluation, evaluate the make-up of the coursebook package and the organization of coursebooks, adapt/adopt a checklist, and present an adapted lesson. |
Dersin İçeriği | This course focuses on the selection and evaluation of EFL coursebooks. Therefore, it is primarily designed to enable prospective teachers of English to learn the criteria they should take into consideration when choosing a coursebook, and to perform their own evaluation of the materials. It also provides the underlying principles regarding the evaluative criteria. Students are provided with many opportunities to bridge the theory and practice through local and global coursebook evaluation sessions. Inspection of the internal, and external features of different coursebooks and appropriateness of their content with respect to learner, teacher and institutional factors will be in focus. |
