Course Objective

To systematically describe the structure, functions and organs of the circulatory system and to examine the structure of the vein and blood in terms of their biophysical properties.

Course Content

The basic concepts of hemodynamics, the structure and function of the circulatory system, the physical properties of blood and viscosity, Poiseuille and Bernouilli's law, laminar and turbulent flows, Laplace's law covers pressure, volume, resistance relations in vessels and the circulatory system. Efficiency of the heart, heart rate, arterial pressure pulse propagation, and blood pressure measurement issues will be examined.
