Course Objective

Students will have a chance of proving his theoretical information at practicum school by observing the mentor teacher and through these observation they are supposed to enhance their teaching skills. In order to provide this, they will plan teaching activities and apply these activities to a class. They are also expected to teach a class assigned to him by his cooperating teacher.

Course Content

Definition of daily activities, preparation of a daily plan and necessary environment, material and mesaurement tools, applying the plan or some activities in that plan, preparing a plan for a student who behaves against school rules, preparing a self-evaluation report related to applications.

Week Course Topics Preliminary Preparation
1 Designation of practicum school, preparing the term plan with the mentor teacher.
2 They prepare a well organized instruction and explanation under the supervision of mentor teacher.
3 They observe a class on classroom questions used by the mentor teacher and prepare a lesson plan using different question forms.
4 Through observation, they gain skills of class management and control.
5 They learn how to use the web site "e-okul" and keep records of students.
6 They evaluate a coursebook using coursebook evaluation criteria and write a report on it.
7 They prepare a lesson plan including group work activities, apply it in a real class or microteach it.
8 They prepare a task plan to use in a class.
9 Mid term
10 They observe the student evaluation process at practicum school.They keep samples of the evaluations.
11 They prepare an exam under mentor teacher´s supervision, apply it to a class, analyse the results and write a report on it.
12 In accordance with the curriculum used at practicum school, they prepare some learning-teaching materials and use them in a daily lesson plan.
