Course Objective Describing concept and elements of the operating system. Telling types of the operating systems. Knowing basic features of the operating systems. Optimizing operating systems.
Course Content The concept and history of operating systems. Basic tasks and classifying operating systems. Von Neumann architecture and structure of the operating system. Kernel and operating principles. Virtual memory management techniques. System errors, the reasond of crash and solving procedures. Differences of the operating systems (Windows, Linux, Unix, Mac OS etc.) disk management and fault tolerant systems, installing operating systems and administrative commands. Concept of the desktop, control menus and programs, file and folder tasks, user and group management tasks, sharing file and folders, auditing and controlling system performance, security, preventing virus, descructive code etc. Backup procedures. Installing, using and controlling Windows and Linux operating systems.
