Course Objective

It is predicted that the students take this course in purpose of providing of specializing as learning to make different and original designs with motifs used in the Turkish Tile Art.

Course Content

The studies will be made to provide specializing with original and various applications at motifs improved in different periods of the Turkish Tile Art. It will be examined similarities and differences as comparing the tile designs developed within centuries in different countries.

Week Course Topics Preliminary Preparation
1 Telling of techniques used between 14th-16th centuries in the Turkish Tile Art and telling of viewpoint to the designs in today’s sense of art. as starting out these techniques.
2 Making of floor tiles in kitchen and bathroom designs where Minai and Luster techniques are used all together.
3 Continuing of sketch studies of floor tiles in kitchen and bathroom designs where Minai and Luster techniques are used all together and passing to the application.
4 Continuing to the application of floor tiles in kitchen and bathroom designs where Minai and Luster techniques are used all together and passing to the application.
5 Continuing to the application of floor tiles in kitchen and bathroom designs where Minai and Luster techniques are used all together and passing to the application. (taking to biscuit drying).
6 Firing of floor tile designs (Quiz).
7 Telling of glazed tile, cut tile, under glaze, Lagardi and coloured glazing techniques used in the tiles of Seljuks Period. Making tile board suited to today’s space understanding with two of these techniques selected.
8 Starting to design stage of the board to be made with techniques of the Seljuks Period.
9 Continuing and approving of design stage of the board to be made with techniques of the Seljuks Period.
10 Passing to application stage of the board to be made with techniques of the Seljuks Period.
11 Continuing of application of the board to be made with techniques of the Seljuks Period.
12 Making the biscuit drying of the board.
13 Making tablet experiences of coloured glazed tests.
14 Completing of firing of the tile board made biscuit drying as glazing with coloured glazing.
