Course Objective Gain informaton about the living religio-political Islamic Sects and sub-sects, their beliefs, approaches and methods.
Course Content The living madhhabs: Shiite, Imamiyyah, Zaydiyyah, Ismailiyyah, al ahlul-Sunnah, Maturidism, Asharism, Imamism, Zaydism, Ibadiyyah, Duruz; Nusayrism, Yazidism, Bahaism. Qadiyanism. Vahhabism and Alawite- Bakhtasism. its aim, scope, methodology; basic concepts and sources; reasons of Islamic sects formation; the earliest political and theological diversifications in religious understanding and the process of institutionalization.
