Course Objective Catalysis is one of most important technology in modern era. Catalysis is necessary to produce plastics and many more compounds from petroleum. Catalysis is also required to produce motor fuels to run vehicles, and remove the air pollution caused by motor vehicles.
Catalysis applications : utilization of catalysis for mankind; conversion of raw materials to new compounds; catalysis for environmental protection; catalysis in daily life; catalysis in future.
Course Content Basic principles : what is catalysis? Reactive interface; effect of surface structure on reactivity; changing the reactivity of catalytic surfaces. Catalytic materials and their preparation; catalytic activity and selectivity; measurement of catalytic properties.
