Course Objective The main objectives of this course are to provide the student with basic concepts, laws and principles of solvent extraction of metals an understanding the concepts and the principles, and to form a background for more specific lectures.
Course Content Solvent extraction of metals. General principles. Extraction equilibria. Recent development in solvent extraction of metals. Liquid anion-exchanger. Liquid canion-exchanger. Combined ion-exchange-solvent extraction. Classification of extraction systems. -Diketones. 8-Hydroxyquinoline and its derivatives. Oximes and dioximes. Organophosphorus acids, esters and oxides. High molecular-weight amines. Molecular and ion-association compounds. Selective extraction of metals.
