Course Objective Getting knowledge on early dissension of history of Islam, politic events after death of prophet Muhammad and formation of early Islamic sects.
Course Content Main politic events after the death of prophet Muhammad, polling the first caliph, murder of third caliph Othman, rising of Kharidjites, Shiite thought and Murjia, caliphate theories of Islamic sects and politic sects of Islam.

Week Course Topics Preliminary Preparation
1 The death of prophet Muhammad, acknowledgement to first caliph and Saqifah episode.
2 Character of caliphate and theories on it.
3 Murder of Othman the third caliph, and influences of this event in history of Islamic sects.
4 Abdallah b. Saba and Sabaiyya in Islamic history as being an explanation of interrior dissensions.
5 Epoch of Ali b. Abu Talib and early Kharidjite movement.
6 Ideas of Kharidjites and branches of them.
7 Epoch of Muawiya, Karbala disaster and its influences on Islamic History and sects.
8 Rising of Shi?ism and Shi?ite caliphate thouoght as being a theorie.
9 Mukhtar al-Saqafi as being the first heretic of Islam, Mukhtariya and its relationship between Shi?ism.
10 Caliphate, fate and divine authority.
11 Fundamentals of Shi?ism and Shi?ite arguments. Branches of Kharidjites, and status of Shiism and Kharidjite nowadays.
12 Theorie of Irja and Murjia as being a response to Shi?ite and Kharidjite attitude.
13 Murjia and Othmaniya concepts, religious and politic tendency of absolute majority except of Shia and Kharidjites. Formation of Ahl al-Sunna as a tendency.
14 A modern politic movement: Wahabism, its rising, resource, thought of Wahabis.
