Course Objective To understand the structure of the Arabic words used in classical Turkish literature; to learn how to produce new words in Arabic in intermediate level; to understand the structure of Arabic words and combinations used in Ottoman Turkish; to understand noun and ajdective phrases, idioms and expressions came from Arabic language, comprhend them in the literary texts.
Course Content Arabic in intermediate level including grammaticak rules and complicated examples.

Week Course Topics Preliminary Preparation
1 Arabic Portes: İf‘âl-Tef’îl-İf’ilâl. Practices over examples. Related practices on 10 verb roots.
2 Arabic Portes: İnfi’âl-Müfâ’ale-İfti’âl. Practices over examples. Related practices on 10 verb roots.
3 Arabic Portes: Tefâ’ül-Tefe’’ül-İstif’âl. Practices over examples. Related practices on 10 verb roots.
4 The types of objects (Mef’ûl) in sentences. Practices over examples. Exercises on finding the objects with in the sentences.
5 Main Arabic prepositions frequently used in Classical Turkish literature. Practices over examples. Exercises on places of prapositions in an Arabic sentence.
6 Types of words in Arabic: Adverbs. Practices over examples. Exercises on usage of adverbs in Arabic syntax.
7 Noun sentences: Kâne and its sisters. Exclamation words and Münâdâ. Practices over examples. Trilateral-root infinitives (Sülasi mücerred mastar). Practices over examples. 5 exercises on Kâne and its sisters. A list of trilateral infinitives will be given before the class.
8 Trilateral-root infinitives (Sülasi mücerred mastar) Practices over examples. Assignment on 10 trilateral infinitives words.
9 MIDTERM
10 Quadripedal-root infinitives in Arabic. Practices over examples. Assignment on 10 words with quadripedal infinitives.
11 Quintuple-root infinitives. Practices over examples. Assignment on 10 words with Quintuple infinitives.
12 Samples of various sentences: Cümle-i İhbâriyye ve Cümle-i İnşâiyye. Practices over examples. Arabic couplet samples from Classical Turkish Literature will be given beforehand.
13 Some practices over the selected poems from Classical Turkish literature contains Arabic stuructures. Poetry samples will be given beforehand.
