Course Objective
This course comprises theoretical and applied studies on sociolinguistics. It is based on studying the interrelationship between the society and language and between the uses of language and social structures.
Course Content

Multilingual societies, language variations, language change; gender and language use; styles, language and culture, intercultural communication; spoken Turkish in the world and teaching Turkish as a foreign language; different linguistic uses in different societies; relationship between language and society, social factors affecting language use, interaction between social identities and linguistic behaviors of individuals / groups; concepts and theories explaining the contribution of sociolinguistics to language teaching.
