|Course Objective||Examining the Turkish Democracy process and its stages.|
|Course Content||The concept of democracy and the systems out of democracy. The bases of democracy in terms of social, economic and cultural. Sharing the power of Sultan in the Ottoman empire and its legal bases: Şer’i Hüccet, Sened-I İttifak, and Tanzimat Edict. The foundation of assemblies and public participation in administration. The struggle of Ottoman intellectuals for democratic rights and freedom. Preparing of first Ottoman constitution, The Kanun-i Esasi. Bases approaches to the policies of Abdülhamid II. and closing assembly temporarily. Political protest and action period. The struggle of Ottoman intellectuals in legal way. The foundation of unions. The proclamation of second Ottoman Constitution and the foundation of political parties. Period of the Republic of Turkey and administration of One-Party. Struggles in the transition to a multiparty system and Political Parties.|
