Comprehending importance of educational technology, learning and applying educational technology with teaching methods, understanding educational technology, comprehending effects of information technologies, knowing applications in Turkey and in the world.
Defining the concepts of instructional technology and material development. Comprehending historical development of instructional technology. Explaining the relationship between instructional technology and system approach. Explaining importance of communication in educational environments. Sorting principles of editing messages about educational environments. Explaining principles during developing materials. Explaining the basic approaches of material preparation. Comprehending properties of presentation materials. Developing presentation materials. Classifying materials used in educational environments. 2 General definition of education, technology and educational technology. Relationship between educational technology and science. Interests of educational technology.
3 Historical development of educational technology.
4 Definition of learning. Relationship between learning-teaching theories and educational technology.
5 Definitions and usages of classic educational technologies: blackboard, whiteboard, magnetic board, clothe board, turntable, sand pool, bulletin board
6 Definitions and usages of classic educational technologies: graphics, models and samples, big and small pictures, posters, newspaper or magazine clippings, cartoon activities, diorama and tours.
7 Midterm exam
8 Definitions and usages of visual and auditory modern educational technologies: smart board, telephone, radio, audio cassette and CD, tape recorder and music center, covering (lamination), camera (digital and classic), pickup truck and record, VCD and DVD
9 Definitions and usages of modern educational technologies for demonstration: slide projectors and slides, overhead projectors and acetates, ELMO (document camera), opaque projectors, data projectors, film projectors and bands, LCD panel.
10 Usage of computer in education system. History of computer. Structure of computer. Effective theories in computerized education. Methods of using computer in education. Computer Assisted Instruction (CAI) and Computer Based Instruction (CBI)
11 Definition and historical development of internet. Basic properties of internet. Applications of internet and education.
12 Television how to use for education and methods of preparing education program.
13 Definition, methods and historical development of distance education, technologies used in distance education.
