Dersin Amacı

In order to understand the structure of the Ottoman society, it is necessary to understand its very religious and ethnic structure. The ethnic structure is often identified with the religious structure.Therefore, it is important for the Ottoman researchers to know who the belief groups constituting the society are, how faithful they are and how they reflect on their lives, relations with the neighboring countries and relations with the state.

Dersin İçeriği

The different religious groups that the Ottoman establishment and its borders began to expand together with the beginning of their expansion.
Belief groups in the Ottoman Empire:
Muslims Faith Groups: Sunnis, Shi'is, Heretic and Sufi groups.
Non-Muslim belief groups: Christians (Assyrians, Copts, Nestorians, Armenians etc.), Jews (Rabbanite Jews, Karaites); Zoroastrians.
