Course Objective Testing of the correctness of the data measured by an experimental study is very important. There are various factors affecting the measurement during experiments. Some of them arise from the sensitivity of the test equipments and the other factors come from the test conditions. Defining the total uncertainty of the measured parameters clearly and inserting them into the calculated parameters gives the correctness limits of experimental study. Although the defining and calculating of the uncertainty of experimental parameters is important, the reporting the test results is also significantly important. This lessons aims to contribute these topics.

1 the importance of experiments in science and engineering, stages of a typical experiment
2 Characteristics of experimental data
3 Plotting graphs, dependent and independent variables,origins, error bars and line drawing, the line of ?best fit? through a set of data points, enterpolation and extrapolation, the gradient and intercept when dealing with experimental data
4 Linearization o f data, logaritmic graphs, computational applications for graphical presentation., examples
5 Introduction to uncertainties, uncertainty in single measurement, resolution uncertainty,reading uncertainty
6 calibration uncertainty, uncertainty in mean,combining uncertainties,selection and rejection of data
