Course Objective

The aim of this course is to introduce and explore ceramic surface decor techniques.

Content of the course incorporate theoreticall information about ceramic decor techniques as well as practiced related exploration.

1 Giving information of course contents.
2 Introduction to types of decorating techniques applied on wet clay, leather-hard and green ware.
3 Sketching designs, evaluating ideas.
4 Introduction to sgrafitto and mishima techniques.
5 Applying sgrafitto technique on ceramic object.
6 Applying mishima technique on ceramic objects.
7 Introduction to image transfer techniques (monoprinting, lithography) on ceramic surface.
8 Applying tranfer techniques to ceramic objects.
9 Applying water etching technique.
10 Introduction to carving and piercing technique.
11 Applying carving technique on ceramic object.
12 Applying piercing technique on ceramic object.
13 Preparing works for bisquit firing.
14 Glazing ceramic objects, loading the kiln.
