To inform the student about the environment that sets the history of religion as a scientific discipline, the differences that distinguish it from other branches of science that are interested in religion, and the great religious traditions in the world.

Pre-nineteenth century religion research.
The emergence of the history of religions as an independent research area.
Theoretical developments in the history of religions and the effects of these changes on the scientific perception.
Living world religions: Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity and Islam
