Course Objective

Study recently published geophysical and geological papers to keep up-to-date with newly developed techniques and methodologies that may be used in the  thesis research of graduate students. Create a scientific platform to exchange and discuss ideas in a wide range of Earth Sciences subjects and increase the awareness of different thesis reseach topics among graduate students. Give graduate students ample opportunity to develop their effective scientific presentation skills. 

Course Content

Active faulting and seismic zones, Earthquakes, Earthquake source parameters, Earthquake hazard assessment, Seismic microzonation, Paleoseismology, Seismic attenuation, Seismic tomography, Receiver function analysis, Global Positioning System (GPS) measurements, Continental deformation, Plate kinematics, Oil exploration, Environmental Geophysics, Engineering Geophysics, Mining Exploration.
