Course Objective This course aims to teach knowledge of why do earthquakes occur, how earthquake science (seismology) has developed, what are earthquake hazards and how earthquake hazards could be mitigated and basic scientific bacgkround of how do we live with earthquakes.

11 Adjustment to earthquake hazard: Loss-sharing such as disaster aid and insurance.
12 Event modification adjustments: Environmental control and hazard-resistant structure design.
