Course Objective Comprehending importance of educational technology, learning and applying educational technology with teaching methods, understanding educational technology, comprehending effects of information technologies, knowing applications in Turkey and in the world.
Defining the concepts of instructional technology and material development. Comprehending historical development of instructional technology. Explaining the relationship between instructional technology and system approach. Explaining importance of communication in educational environments. Sorting principles of editing messages about educational environments. Explaining principles during developing materials. Explaining the basic approaches of material preparation. Comprehending properties of presentation materials. Developing presentation materials. Classifying materials used in educational environments. Developing materials used in educational environment according to purpose. Explaining how computers are used in education. Week Course Topics Preliminary Preparation
1 Definition of technology. Machine and technique, science and technique, organization and technique, technique organization and technique event, technique and culture, relationships between technique and society.
2 General definition of education, technology and educational technology. Relationship between educational technology and science. Interests of educational technology.
3 Historical development of educational technology.
4 Definition of learning. Relationship between learning-teaching theories and educational technology.
5 Definitions and usages of classic educational technologies: blackboard, whiteboard, magnetic board, clothe board, turntable, sand pool, bulletin board
6 Definitions and usages of classic educational technologies: graphics, models and samples, big and small pictures, posters, newspaper or magazine clippings, cartoon activities, diorama and tours.

8 Definitions and usages of visual and auditory modern educational technologies: smart board, telephone, radio, audio cassette and CD, tape recorder and music center, covering (lamination), camera (digital and classic), pickup truck and record, VCD and DVD
