Dersin Amacı | The aim of this course is to deal with the relationship between language and society, as well as the basic issues of sociolinguistics and its relationship with language teaching. |
Dersin İçeriği | The aim of this course is to provide theoretical knowledge and analytical an approach to understand and evaluate the issues that form the basis of contemporary sociolinguistics: Multilingual societies, language diversity and change among sub-topics, gender and language usage, language usage styles and appeal, language-culture relationship, intercultural communication; Teaching English as a foreign language; the rich diversity of language behaviors in different environments, situations and communities; basic terms, concepts and theories developed in order to find and explain in which ways and how society and language are interconnected, the effect of social factors on speech behavior, the use of language of individuals and groups; how societies form their social identities with their forms, and understand the contribution of studies in sociolinguistics to the field of language teaching and learning.
