Dersin Amacı

Introduce the material, plaster, for making molds, necessary ınstruments (such as chisels, scrapers, measuring tools) and seperators.

Dersin İçeriği

Industrial ceramic production methods, stages of mold making and varieties, models and side parts of the mold, different types of pins, making of different geometric shapes with plaster plates (60 mm thickness is required with ellips, square, triangle, etc) also making yhe model and the mold are the main subjects of this course.

1 The methods of shaping industrial ceramics.
2 The definition of plaster, the reasons of using plaster in industrial ceramic production (the properties of plaster), the varieties of plaster ,the stages of making plaster.
3 Introduction of tools used in model and mold making. Isolating materials; shellac, soft soap, speacial component seperators.
4 The varieties and the stages of mold making ; models and side parts of the mold; the different types of pins
5 The types of model making and its important points.
6 The of stages of mold making; the usage of synthetic materials in ındustrial mold making techniques.
7 Reduction ratio and cubing,the important points in industrial design.
8 Making plaster tablets in 25 mm thickness(150x150mm)
9 Making carving keys on plaster plates and making a radius at one side of the tablet.
10 Pouring plaster on the tablets to discuss the roles of the pins with the students .
11 Shaping plaster tablets in geometric forms (tablet thickness 60 mm, elipse, square, triangle, hexagonal, etc)
12 Shaping the geometric forms and addition of foot part on shaped forms.
13 Making plaster molds of shapen models..
14 Slip casting and evaluation of the final results with discussing the students
