Course Objective Students learn the fundamentals of character design for animation and other media. They combine the knowledge they acquired in ?Fundamentals of design? and ?animation? courses to prepare a creative and succesfull characted design package.

Week Course Topics Preliminary Preparation
1 Study of succesful character designs. Discussion of how to translate the observations in real life to character design.
2 The principles of using basic shapes and colors in character design. Study of andropomorphic designs. Students design a character using basic shapes and lines.
3 Fundamentals of design in creating a personality. Discussion of the importance of the shapes in giving life. Students design a character using office tools.
4 Discussion of how to translate the personality, the script and the gerenal film style into the character design. Students bring a sketch of a person of their choice and a brief description of the character.
