Dersin Amacı

By analyzing macro economic theories, discussing the validity of macroeconomic topics is the aim of this course. Thus, in this course, the examples from real life will be introduces to the students.

Dersin İçeriği

In this course macroeconomic events and applications will be examined at both national and international levels with the help of numerical variables. In addition to that evaluation of investigated subjects which are related to recent economic events and the ways to improve macroeconomic performance and their proposed solutions will be put forth.

1 Revealing the relationships between the history of macroeconomic thought, areas of research, assumptions, economic variables and economic policies.
2 Concepts about the measuring the volüme of economic activities and GDP. Economic growth rates, price indexes, inflation and interest rates.
3 Measuring economic relations with other countries; balance of payments, exchamge rates and their gauging.
4 Assumptions of classical economy, equilibrium in labour market, goods and monetary markets. Some resluts of the classical model; capital accumulation, population growth and unemployment. AD and AS and effectiveness of economic policies.
5 Assumptions of Keynesian models, aggregate expenditures, equilibrium income levels and aggregate supply curve. Multiplier effect and its mechanism in Keynesian model and equilibrium income levels in open economies.
6 Formation of IS-LM models, imbalances and their elimination. Weak and strong effects of monetary and fiscal policies in IS-LM models.

11 Aggregate demand and Pigou effect and short term supply models. Incomplete information models in AS-AD.
12 Money, inflation and interest rates, alternative strategies for decreasing inflation and political sides of inflation and unemployment.
13 Budget deficits and its financing, external deficits and inventory of current acoount.
14 Economic growth and neoclassical growth model. Economic growth and Cobb-Douglas model.
