Dersin Amacı

The Earth is a dynamic planet. The motion of the tectonic plates that form the surface of the earth causes magmatic and seismic activity and as a result the crust is deformed. Besides, the folds and faults, that form due to the deformation of the crust, are the main tectonic structures, where mineral deposits, oil and gas traps are formed. The subject of this course is the deformation of the crust and students gain knowledge as to how the geological structures are formed, and they learn how to apply this knowledge in the exploration of the mineral deposits, oil and natural gas, as well as in seismic hazard mitigation.
