After the Cold War, intra-state conflicts, separatist nationalist movements etc. have emerged as new threats against the national independence and security of the nation-states. In the meantime, terrorist movements based upon the ethnic nationalist and radical religious discourses have also threatened to existing international security. In order to disappear such new threats, the states’ military capabilites are not sufficient. Meanwhile, states have to deal with these issues through using different instruments, including political, social, economic, çivil and psyhcological ones. These new developments and facts shall be studied and analyzed by the students of International Relations.
