| Dersin Amacı | Humanitarian Law, Law of War and Armed Conflict Law is a branch of law that has the same meaning and is different from, but related to, human rights law. The reason for the existence of this branch of law is the phenomenon of war. The aim of the course is to introduce this branch of law to students and to give information about the rules to be applied in armed conflicts. |
| Dersin İçeriği | International humanitarian law aims at minimizing human suffering. For this, war must be as humane and regulated as possible. This goal has been embodied in the Geneva Conventions and additional protocols as a product of centuries-long work. The conventions prepared by the Red Cross, also known as the Geneva Conventions, are the most important source of Humanitarian Law, and the course will teach the basic concepts of international humanitarian law based on the Geneva Conventions. |
