Course Objective The aim of the course is to make students gain experience in visualizing techniques with scriptwriting phases and storyboard design.
Course Content The content of the course is to learn by practising the scriptwriting and storyboarding process´ which are the important part of a real-time shot or an animated film´s pre-production phase.

Week Course Topics Preliminary Preparation
1 The definition, the function and the components of the film script. Visual story narration.
2 The history and the uses of the film script and the storyboard. Different phases of a film script. Practices.
3 Scriptwriting for film and dramaturgy. Epic, Lyric and Dramatic genres. The treatment practice. An original synopsis from each of the students.
4 Scriptwriting techniques with examples. Finished treatments.
5 Story- narration- theme-subject-plot concepts and practices.
6 The character and the event archetypes, types, dialogue writing, antagonist, dramatic conflict concepts.
7 Layered narration in scriptwriting, internal/external conflict, rythim, editing
8 Film language concepts like perspective, framing, composition, camera movements, mise-en-scene, subjective camera, the rules of 180 / 30 degrees etc. Final film script.
9 The shooting script and the planning of the shots.
