Dersin Amacı Surface engineering, one of the most researching area, materials used in the industry affected exposed to the surface interaction in industry and these materials demaged from the surface in general. For this reason, development of the suraface properties of the materials is very important. Carbides, nitrides, borides based coatings, hard, resistant to wear, corrosion and oxidation realized by thermo-chemical coating treatment, in addition, silicides, aluminides etc. have an importance in industry can be realized by these technique, successively. Service life of the metallic parts like molds, cutting tools, important machine parts, mastors, drams, etc can be utilized from a few to hundreds time. One of the important parts of the MsC and PhD thesis realized in the Sakarya University is about in this area. For this reason, hard coatings realized by thermo-chemical methods lessons is an important course.
Dersin İçeriği Basics of the thermochemistry, thermodynamic and kinetic approach to the thermo chemistry, coatings realized by thermochemistry, aluminides and silicides, thermo-chemical coating techniques, raw materials used in the thermo chemical coatings, furnaces, used in the thermo chemical coatings, testes applied on thermochemical coatings, technological importance of thermo chemical coatings and their advantages and disadvantages versus other coating techniques, growing mechanisms of hard coatings, prediction of formed phases with Hume-Rothery rules, diffusion based coatings, metallic coatings, carbide coatings, nitride coatings, boride coatings and intermetallic coatings, Applying areas of thermo diffusional coatings in industry, theirs performance and behaviours in different enviroments, Selection of coatings according to service conditions and theirs applying areas.
