Course Objective

After the briefing of the students on the historical developments happened in the Balkans and the underlying problems of  today, the political developments that took place in the Balkan region and especially in the Balkan countries in the post-1990 period and the crisis created by the disintegration process of Yugoslavia and efforts to secure peace will be examined in terms of causes, consequences and dynamics that guide them.

Course Content

During the course, the course will first provide information about the historical developments that underlie the problems in the Balkans today.
In the second stage, developments that have the capacity to influence on the Balkans and potential conflicts in the Balkans will be examined. Third, the Balkan countries will be treated as a single case study, examining the developments that have taken place in the post-1990 period and the relations between the countries.
During the course, students will be provided with preliminary work on the topics to be studied in order to improve the research and analysis skills of the students. The course is a form of discussion involving the processing of the lesson with an interactive method with the participation of the students.
