Course Objective | Scientific and technological developments have accelerated in parallel with the industrialization process which started in the 16th century in the world, necessitate the use of common units and measurement techniques. Although the necessity of establishing a common standard in the production of goods and services does not involve the development of various norms, different unit systems and norms are still used in the globalizing world economy. In the days when many national norms such as DIN, ASTM, AISI, SAE and TSE continue to be used in addition to international norms such as ISO and EN, the equivalence issues of various norms and standards should be well known especially by engineers. |
Course Content | Unit systems and history, Measurement principles and scales, Tolerances and definitions, International norms, Common national norms, Industry norms, Certificates and declarations, Determination of quality standards, Preference and binding of standards and norms in national and international agreements. National and international supervisory bodies, Audit processes. |
