Course Objective

To give knowladge on seismic wave atenuation and big amplitude Moho reflections to the graduate students who want to study seismology

Course Content

Different mechanical models: Maxwell, Kelvin Voight, ect.;  Attenuation of seismic waves ( Body, Surface and  Coda wave), quality factor (Q); Methods for calculation of attenuation: Coda wave method, Coda normalization method; Description of anisotropy, S wave splitting; Examples of attenuation studies in Turkey: Attenuation studies in Marmara, Western Anatolia and Erzincan region, Examples of attenuation studies in other countries; Examination of large amplitude wave phases reflecting from Moho: Examples from Marmara region and other studies.
