Dersin Amacı | To understand the structure of the Arabic words used in classical Turkish literature; to know the derivation of them; To know how to produce new words in Arabic; to understand the structure of Arabic words and combinations used in Ottoman Turkish; to understand nominal and ajdective phrases, idioms and expressions came from Arabic language. |
Dersin İçeriği | To understand the primary information on vocabulary, grammar rules, some practical examples of Arabic language; to conceive main Arabic structures commonly used in Classical Turkish literature like verses, Prophet sayings, stereotyped phrases and idioms frequently met in Classical Turkish literary texts. |

2 | Usage of Arabic language in Classical Turkish Literature. Benefits of place of Arabic in undertsanding Classical Turkish texts. | Research on effect of Arabic on Classical Turkish Literature will be done. |
3 | Arabic alphabet: sounds, letters and wovel sounds. Some practices on sükûn, şedde, tenvin and relavant examples. | Chart of Arabic Alphabet will be given to the student beforehand. |
4 | Definite article (Harf-i Ta’rîf), Sun and Moon letters, demonstrative nouns. Some practices on those with examples. | Chart of Sun and Moon letters will be given to the student beforehand. |
5 | Arabic pronouns. Adjacent and seperate pronouns. Masculine and feminine words; singularity, duality and plurality. Some practices on those with examples. | The table of Arabic pronouns will be given before the class and 10 exercises on those will be given as assignment. |
6 | Type of sentences in Arabic: Noun and verbal sentences. Some practices on them. | 10 exercises on those will be given as assignment. |
7 | Past tense (Fiil-i Mâzî). The word order in a sentence and accordingly the affect of vocal sounds (Merfû, Mansûb and Mecrûr) Some practices on them. Present tense (fiil-i muzâri). Some practices on them. | Assignment with 10 verbs with both past and present tense will be given. |
