Dersin Amacı Definitions, sources, topics of Classical Turkish literature. Introduction of Classical Turkish Literature in terms of genre and content. The training of the poets and litterateurs of Classical Turkish literature and their literary world; aruz prosody, its importance and function and the most commonly used prosodies and to teach their practices. To introduce the world of mazmuns of Classical Turkish literature.

2 Definition, birth, geography, how to give a name of Classical Turkish literature; aruz prosody, its definition, short history and its function in poetry; technical elements like imȃle, med, ulama etc. Which are used to find aruz prosody. Articles to be read: Prof. Dr. Ömer Faruk Akün- TDV İslâm Ansiklopedisi, v. 9, p. 389-427, “Divan Edebiyatı”; Orhan Şaik Gökyay, Eski Türk Edebiyatı El Kitabı p. 353 “Divan Edebiyatı Kimin?”

5 Kaside: its definition, characteristics, sections, short history, certain kaside poets and to Show kaside’s sections on sample of “Su Kasidesi”; to practice “Fe‘ilâtün (Fâ‘ilâtün)/ Fe‘ilâtün / Fe‘ilâtün / Fe‘ilün (Fa‘lün)” prosody. The text of Fuzûlî’s “Su Kasidesi” poem will be provided.
6 Gazel: its definition, characteristics, short history, certain gazel poets; to practice “Mef‘ûlü / Fâ ‘ilâtü / Mefâ ‘îlü / Fâ‘ilün” prosody. Necâti, Hayâli, Bâki, Fuzûli, Nedim and Şeyh Gâlib’s one gazel sample will be provided.
7 Müstezad and Kıt’a: their definitions, characteristics, short histories, certain poets and samples of their poems; to practice “Mef‘ûlü / Mefâ‘îlü / Mefâ‘îlü / Fe‘ûlün” prosody. Müstezad and Kıt´a poetry forms in lesson sources will be read.
8 Mesnevi (Mathnawi) and Hamse: their definitions, characteristics, short histories, certain mesnevi (mathnawi) and hamse poets and short knowledges about their poems; to practice “Mefâ‘ilün / Fe‘ilâtün / Mefâ‘ilün / Fe‘ilün (Fa‘lün)” prosody. Article to be read: Prof. Dr. İsmail Ünver, Türk Dili Dergisi, Divan Şiiri Sayısı, p. 430-463, “Mesnevi”.
9 Rubâi and Tuyuğ: their definitions, characteristics, short histories, certain poets and samples of their poems; to practice “Mefâ‘îlün / Mefâ‘îlün / Fe‘ûlün” prosody. Ömer Hayyam, Azmi-zâde Haleti and Yahya Kemal s one rubai sample will be provided.

11 Murabba, Terbî and Muhammes: their definitions, characteristics, short histories, certain poets and samples of their poems; to practice “Fâ‘ilâtün / Fâ‘ilâtün / Fâ‘ilün” prosody. Sample texts of Murabba, Terbi and Muhammes poetry forms will be read from Divan literary sources.
12 Tardiye, Tahmîs and Taştîr: their definitions, characteristics, short histories, certain poets and samples of their poems; to practice “Fe‘ilâtün (Fâ‘ilâtün) / Mefâ‘ilün / Fe‘ilün (Fa‘lün)” prosody. Sample texts of Tardiyye, Tahmis and Taştir poetry forms will be read from Divan literary sources.
13 Müseddes, Tesdîs, Müsebba,Tesbî, Müsemmen and Tesmîn: their characteristics, to practice “Müstef‘iün / Müstef‘iün / Müstef‘iün / Müstef‘iün” “Mef‘ûlü / Fâ‘ilâtün / Mef‘ûlü / Fâ‘ilâtün” prosodies. Sample texts of Müseddes, Tesdis, Müsebba, Tesbi, Müsemmen and Tesmin poetry forms will be read from Divan literary sources.
14 Mütessâ, Tetsî, Muaşşer, Ta’şîr, Terkîb-i bend and Tercî-i bend: characteristics, to practice “Fe‘ûlün / Fe‘ûlün / Fe‘ûlün / Fe‘ûl” prosody. Sample text of Bağdatlı Rûhi’s terkîb-i bend and sample text of Şeyh Gâlib’s tercî-i bend will be provided.
