Dersin Amacı

About 80% of geophysicists are employed in the petroleum industry in the world. Similarly the TPAO is one of the main employers of geophysicists in Turkey. Although our current curriculum at the Department of Geophysical Engineering, Sakarya University contains many courses in geophysical exploration methods, the lack of a course dealing with Petroleum Geology is an important and unacceptable deficit. Petroleum Geology course will fill in this important gap in the curriculum by providing fundamentals of Petroleum Geology that is extremely important in petroleum exploration.

Dersin İçeriği

The physical and chemical properties of petroleum, generation and migration of petroleum, reservoir characteristics, petroleum and gas traps, well drilling and formation evaluation, geophysical methods of oil exploration, nonconventional petroleum resources, methane hydrates, sedimentary basin analysis, oil and gas fields in Turkey, major oil and gas fields in the world, CO2 sequestration, the importance of oil and gas in energy resources of the world.
