Dersin Amacı This course aims to teach environmental hazard and risk concepts in general and how to manage earthquake hazard and resulting risk and disaster in special.

6 Tectonic hazards: 1. Earthquake hazard and its nature.
7 Primary earthquake hazards: Seismic waves and ground shaking.
8 Secondary earthquake hazard: Liquefaction, land slides, rock and snow avalanches.
9 Adjustment to earthquake hazard: Loss-sharing such as disaster aid and insurance.
10 Event modification adjustments I: Environmental control
11 Event modification adjustments II: Hazard-resistant design.
12 Vulnerability modification adjustments: Community preparedness, forecasting and warning, land use planning.
13 Tectonic hazards: 2. Volcanic hazard and its nature.
14 Primary (eruptions, lava flows and volcanic gases) and secondary (ground deformation, mudflows and tsunamis) volcanic hazards and adjustment to volcanic hazard.
